Algonquin College Fundraising Events – March 2020

The following are not Ottawa Riverkeeper events, but student led events supporting our work via fundraising.

 

Lights, Camera, Karma!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2020, join us to Sing, Dance and Play at “Lights, Camera, Karma!,” an exhilarating Bollywood themed fundraiser. Delight your senses with authentic Indian cuisine, dazzling decor, dance tutorials and more at the Ottawa Art Gallery in downtown Ottawa. Become the star of your very own VIP Bollywood experience – you deserve it!

Proceeds from this event will go to three important local charities: Candlelighters, Ottawa Riverkeeper, and Dave Smith Youth Treatment Center.

Tickets are $55 General Admission, $65 to be a Blockbuster Supporter and go on sale February 11th, 2020. Put your dancing shoes on and dress to dazzle.

Make It POP

Head on over to Make It POP, Ottawa’s local pop-up shop on Wednesday, March 11 at the Algonquin Student Commons. Support your community by exploring local artisanal vendors at our market and thrifting gently loved clothing items in our pop-up shop. Vibe with our DJ’s beats and stop to take a selfie at our installation. The Market is open from 2-9 PM, and guess what? It’s FREE!

Keep the party going at our exclusive ticketed ($20) afterparty from 5-9 PM. Not only do you get to explore the market and pop-up shop, but you will have access to a beer garden brought to you by Local Lager. Enjoy your cold brew with live tunes and tasty food while browsing the silent auction tables to grab some fab deals!

Proceeds to three local charities: Dave Smith Youth Treatment Center, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer, and Ottawa Riverkeeper.

Taste of India

Experience India without the long flight time! Join us Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from onwards at Centurion Conference and Event Center, for an evening full of food, fun and culture. Organized by a group of Algonquin College Event Management program, this event supports Ottawa Riverkeeper, Candlelighters and Dave Smith Youth Treatment Center.

Envision the exotic spices dancing on your taste buds as you enjoy traditional Indian cuisine at our live demonstrations and 3-course dinner. All the while enjoying the movements of the classical folk dancer, and enchanting music. Colourful traditional clothing and mysterious henna designs will delight and captivate your senses. As you are immersed in our evening of Indian culture, you will have the opportunity to win and bid on donated items, with proceeds going to three deserving local charities. A Night in New York

Love travelling? Tired of fees, delays, and not enough vacation days? Join us Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 for A Night in New York. Held at Sala San Marco Event & Conference Centre in Little Italy, you will experience the excitement of the “Big Apple” without leaving Ottawa and spending the time or money. In the “City That Never Sleeps” you will enjoy Broadway hits, a stand-up comedian, busker acts, and a hearty Italian meal.

Under the Tent

Come one, come all, to the greatest event of all! Come experience our show UNDER THE TENT as we take you on a journey through time with a 1930’s inspired circus! Feel the nostalgia as we amaze and astound you with a delicious three-course meal, incredible live performers and carnival games. Bring your friends and family to this fun and entertaining circus event!

The event will take place on Tuesday, March 31st, at Centurion Conference and Event Centre, at 5:30 pm.

Tickets are $55 with proceeds going to Ottawa Riverkeeper, the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre and Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Support Programs. Tickets will go on sale on February, 4th, 2020 and can be purchased through our event team members or on our website.
