Mudpuppy or Necturus maculosus

Size : They can grow to a size of about 33 cm.

Habitat : They live in streams and ponds and during the day they often hide under rocks. They are more active at night.

Diet : They are carnivorous and will eat worms, small fish, crayfish and insects.

Native/non-native: Native to North America

Status : They are not considered threatened. Their largest predator is humans who often catch them when fishing and throw them back.

Fun fact : Mudpuppies take 6 years to get to reproductive age and can live for up to 30 years!
