Update on the 2021 Riverkeeper 4K
We have hosted the Riverkeeper 4K for many years, but were unable to do so in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, the pandemic remains ongoing, so we have decided not to host the event in 2021. The health and safety of our participants and volunteers is our top priority, as is doing our part to help keep our community safe. There are unfortunately no signs at this time that we will be able to ensure that level of safety by the time the usual date for the swim comes around.
We will be hosting other events throughout the year, so please take a look at our events page for more information. The best way to hear more is to subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
A fundraiser to protect our Ottawa River
The Riverkeeper 4K open water swim is a unique, inter-provincial swimming event in the Ottawa River. Uniting both provincial shores of our river, the swim highlights the need for collaboration towards swimmable, drinkable, fishable waters!
Tom Anzai - In Memory We Swim
Tom was the founder and race director of our annual Riverkeeper 4K swim. He had a vision to swim from one shore of the historic Ottawa River to the other, swam it, then invited all fellow swimmers to participate in what he called an epic charity event. His passion for the event was contagious. He didn’t miss an opportunity to speak not only of the swim, but also of the importance of a healthy Ottawa River. Tom exemplified dedication and community service.
The Riverkeeper 4K is a member of the GSS. With more than 98,000 swimmers in 122 races, in 33 countries (and still growing), the Global Swim Series is the largest open water swim series in the world. Earn points for participation and placing in the 4K and other GSS swims to earn ranking in the series.
