A new chapter at Ottawa Riverkeeper
We are gearing up to implement our exciting new plans for the future. Elizabeth Logue and Patrick Nadeau are now helping guide a smooth transition to a new generation of leadership.
Ottawa, February 24, 2021 – Ottawa Riverkeeper (ORK) is happy to announce the successful delivery of the organization’s 2016-2020 Strategic Plan, which has seen unprecedented growth and success over the course of this period. This accomplishment has been made even more significant given the pandemic year. And now we are gearing up to implement our exciting new plans for the future.
After leading the organization so successfully and finalizing a bold, new Strategic Plan for 2021-2023, our two current organizational leaders Elizabeth Logue (Riverkeeper) and Patrick Nadeau (Executive Director) are now helping guide a smooth transition to a new generation of leadership for ORK’s post-pandemic future, before they move on to exciting new opportunities.
Patrick has accepted a role working with the Mayor of Montreal and her executive team on the City’s environmental policies. Elizabeth’s next adventure will continue her passion for working on Indigenous policy issues. Both have left video messages to the community announcing their departures.
“It is with heavy but extremely grateful hearts that we accept the decisions of Elizabeth and Patrick to move on. We are sad to see them go, but are extremely proud of everything they have achieved for the organization and our amazing watershed over the years they have been with us. We wish them the very best on their next endeavours.”
Geoff Green, Chair of the Board of Directors, Ottawa Riverkeeper
A new strategic plan
ORK’s new strategic plan builds on the core mission, values and successes of ORK over the past 20 years. These plans include a dream codenamed “River House” to establish a future home for ORK on the Ottawa River and a vibrant new location for public access. This includes kicking ORK’s educational activities into a higher gear with “River School”, one of the many exciting elements of the River House project, focused on building future generations of water champions.
The next generation of leadership
As we move to the next chapter of freshwater stewardship in the Ottawa River watershed and beyond, we will be launching a search to fill a single leadership position; that of Riverkeeper & CEO. This important leadership role is designed to align with the new strategic goals of ORK and will be supported by a strong management team, an amazing staff, hundreds of passionate volunteers across the watershed, and a prominent and passionate board of directors.
