Size: The Blanding’s turtle is a medium sized turtle. Its shell length is 18 to 23 cm.


Habitat: The Blanding’s turtle lives in the Great Lakes, central Nebraska, Minnesota and southern Ontario. They live in shallow water with lots of vegetation or wetlands.


Diet: The Blanding’s turtle is an omnivore that eats fish, frogs, crayfish, carrion, berries and vegetables.


Native/ Non-native: Native to North America.


Status: The Blanding’s turtle is currently endangered.


Fun Fact: The Blanding’s turtle can travel hundreds of meters from the nearest body of water in search of a mate of a nesting site.
