Ottawa Riverkeeper collaborates with other Canadian Waterkeepers on Fisheries Act reform submission

This fall the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans Canada has been conducting hearings and receiving written submissions on the reform of Canada’s Fisheries Act.  The intention of this reform effort is to review the significant changes that were made to the Act in 2012, to restore protections that were lost at that time, and to incorporate modern safeguards.  Waterkeeper organizations from across Canada, including Ottawa Riverkeeper, came together to outline to the Committee the nine most important changes they feel should be made to this crucial environmental law.  You can read our submission here.
