Beach Talk!

An update from our Swim Guide coordinator, Chloé Montreuil-Spencer.

Hello Ottawa- Gatineau!

We have discovered one of your beaches and we are zooming in on it! We present Parc Moussette, located on Boulevard de Lucerne, Gatineau. The park features a baseball field, tennis courts, a community centre and the Sentier des Voyageurs for cycling and walking along the river. A little beach stretches along the Ottawa River and is supervised by lifeguards during swimming hours.

Alternating weeks, the city of Gatineau and the Province of Québec perform water quality tests at Moussette Beach. In fact, Riverkeeper staff met up with city of Gatineau to participate in a sampling session to better understand the protocol and the techniques involved with collecting water samples.

The team then reunited at Parc Moussette to film a segment of a television series called Vert d’Envie that will be broadcasted on Radio-Canada next year (stay tuned!). Otherwise, the park is a lovely place where the city folks can take advantage of sunny days to lounge and relax by the water.

The Riverkeeper team will install informative kiosks and activities for all ages at Parc Moussette on August 12th to make people aware of the importance of clean water so we can all enjoy swimming, drinking and fishing in the Ottawa River. We want all beach-goers to be informed and ready to watch out for the health of our river, just like us! For more information about water quality at plage Moussette, consult your Swim Guide

Stay safe this summer!
